About the club
We started this club because small pets deserve big love.
A tiny editorial team of pet parents, writers, and one very patient vet. We write what we wish we'd read on day one.

The origin story
A hamster named Mochi, a very panicked Google search.
In the spring of 2024, our founder Maya brought home a dwarf hamster and spent a full weekend swimming through outdated care advice, affiliate-stuffed "top 10" lists, and contradictory forum threads.
Small Pets Club is what she wished she'd found instead — gentle, vet-checked, actually specific. We started with hamsters. Now we cover eight species and counting.

Our editorial values
What makes it into print.
01
Evidence first
Every health claim is cited to peer-reviewed sources or vet review. If we can't back it up, we don't print it.
02
Species-specific
Hamsters ≠ gerbils. We write for each animal's real biology — no generic 'rodent' advice.
03
Honest commerce
The shop is small on purpose. If a product doesn't survive four weeks in a real home, it doesn't make the list.
04
Warm, not cute
We take care seriously, not ourselves. No baby-talk, no guilt-marketing, no 'must-haves.'
05
Accessible
Plain English. Clear numbers. A price range, not a luxury-only list.
06
Updated, not archived
Every guide gets re-read once a year. Outdated pages are revised or retired.
